Mini DaYan ZhanChi 42mm

I only recommend mini cubes for travel and this is by far the best mini cube

This is an ok cube that turns well and has good corner cutting. The only big issue was how the blue and red center caps fall off a ton. Other than this it is a good cube. Even though it is not my main It is still fun to solve.

Ive got 2 of these, the black one Ive had for 4 yrs now, will be receiving the Stickerless in the mail in a few days. Overall this cube moves great like the larger ZhanChis. Its compact size is great for carrying around and to solve while traveling. One problem is that I lost all of the torpedoes from my black one. Would be great if replacements were available. Would also recommend tightening the cube a bit once you get it since the center caps seem to want to fall off sometimes. Overall if you buy this product it wont disappoint !

The mini Dayan Zhanchi 42mm is a great cube when it comes to performance, but the size is a problem depending on how big your hands are. my hands are just the right size and can handle the cube with ease, but when my friend picks it up he has trouble with turning, and just the over all speed that you can get with this cube. The cube never corner twists which i thought was great because it doesn't have squared off corners like most puzzles do anymore. also the corner cutting is amazing, and it can cut just about anywhere. another problem is the center caps will pop off in the middle of solves, i don't know why they do it but it's annoying. but i found you can fix it by putting the cube on tighter tensions. so over all this is a great cube but could use so improvement.

This cube is good for the most part, I know it will be better once I lube it up, it corner cuts well and has a slight clicky feel (probably just because it's dry as a bone. My one gripe with this cube is the construction is not very good, at least the stickerless version. I still think I will prefer either the mini QuiYi or the YuXin, but I'll know for sure after I lube it. Overall it's a decent cube. 3 stars for the shoddy construction and out of the box feel, after lube it will be 4-stars.

42mm is small. No really small.

When I got it, I had problems with the center caps coming off and the core screws gouging the center caps. Would be a 2 star cube :(.

I replaced the springs with Gans 356 S8 springs, and that issue went away. Now the cube can be tensioned properly and has a great smooth feel.

S9 springs are $1.50 here, and likely they'll work as well, you'll get S7s also, in case you want a stiffer feel.

Warning: Reassembling this cube with different springs is a bit more difficult than your average speed cube reassembly. But it is worth it :)

The mini zhanchi was great: it was exactly like the full size. However it is too small for real use. if you want a mini one, use the 55 or 50 mm version. Since the cube was so small, that meant all the pieces were small. Because the torpedos were so small, it was fragile: one of my torpedoes broke and was loose in the mechanism. I would rate a full size dayan zhanchi 5 stars, but I took one off because it was small. I took another star off because one of the torpedo broke.

Its amazing in every way, but the center caps fall out and I've lost 2 already. Its annoying.

This is an amazing cube! 42 mm is probably smaller than you would think. It was buttery smooth out of the box... I would highly recommend it for people looking for a travel companion... It's very portable and performs surprisingly well for its size! Wouldn't recommend for speed cubing, though.
The only setback is that it is pretty frustrating to lube and tension. When I took off the pieces and unscrewed the screws, I couldn't put them back on for a few days actually.
Out of 80 or so solves, there have been 0 pops or corner twists. This cube won't disappoint you!
