Product Description

The ShengShou 7x7 Mini measures just 69.6mm across, making it 8mm smaller than the regular ShengShou 7x7. It features the same mechanism that made the original ShengShou 7x7 one of the most popular and successful cubic 7x7s on the market.

Our Promise to You

All of our products are guaranteed to be free of defects, or we will replace and reship at no cost to you. Please contact us within 4 weeks (28 days) past the delivery date to report any issues with items you have purchased.

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

The corners on 2x2 puzzles should not be twisted as doing so may snap the piece. Damage caused by corner twisting is not considered to be a defect.

Smooth and locky

I've had this cube for about a year now and it's really good for what is is.
This cube is soooo smooth. All the layers are buttery smooth and have a bit of friction, but nothing lube can't fix. The colors are nice but I'd recommend getting new stickers because the stock stickers are not high quality but it comes with extras so that's good. The size is really good and is half a 4x4 layer bigger than a 4x4. Another thing I like about this cube is that if it pops, it's easy to put a piece back in. If the layers a slightly out of alignment the cube won't lock and explode, which is of course great. *cough* vcube7 *cough*

The reverse cutting is very minimal to none, and the cube will disform is you try to reverse it. If you do a line to line normal cut the things locks up and disforms and/or pops. Inner layer cuts ore OK.

Overall I would recommend this cube to anyone starting in 7x7.

Absolutely Amazing!

I didn't buy this cube from here, but it's such a great cube I thought I'd leave a review of it here too.

First off, this cube just doesn't pop. It doesn't. My tensions are pretty loose, and I'm pretty rough with cubes, but I haven't had this cube pop yet. It turns very very smoothly and has almost no catching, especially if you're accurate with your turns. The cube (like all Shengshou cubes) came out of the box very tight and covered in lube, but after loosening it and wiping it off, it was perfect. I definitely recommend this cube for anyone wanting to speedsolve 7x7, or just casual solve 7x7.

Very good cube

I dont have the full size SS 7x7, so I cant compare size. However, I can say the cube is very stable and smooth. Out of the box, it was very tight and not very easy to turn, however, after loosening, it was a little better. But After doing a ton of patterns and just one solve, its broken in and so much better.

The cube preforms amazingly, its really smooth on the outer two layers, the third being a little crunchy and a little tougher to turn, but still really nice.

This Cube is great

This Cube is better then the normal sized one because with the normal sized one it's really hard to move the center row by holding the cube with two hands. I had this cube for about a week and it locked up three times, But I do use this cube a lot in one day so that is not that bad. The edge pieces are getting a little loose but they are not that bad. I like how this cube came with extra stickers because the stickers on here sometimes chip, but with the extra stickers there is nothing to worry about. I also like how it came with a Rubik's Cube stand because I have about 7-11 Cubes and I had only one stand but now I have two so that is awesome. I rate this cube a 8 1/2 out of 10. This Cube is great.

Awesome

I found the 6x6 good but when I opened the 7x7 it was excellent

Center Caps

Over all this cube is pretty good, except the center caps fall out easily and once you get good tensions, you will probably want to glue them down so they won't pop out during a solve.

Review

I got this cube around 4 months ago and it sucked. A lot. Corner cutting was minimal and the outer layers were prone to lock ups. The inner layers had this awful grinding feeling and overall I would rate the cube 2 stars. However after breaking it in a LOT (300+ solves) it VASTLY improved. All layers are extremely smooth and corner cutting has improved a noticeable amount (about a piece and a half and no reverse corner cutting). The layers get progressively slower, with the eh outmost layer being the fastest and the inner layer being the slowest, but still fast. I lubed the core and the pieces with weight 2 and while I did put Dayan screws in the cube, I didn't really notice a difference in performance. The stickers are great, although a bit dull, and just a note: BE CAREFUL WITH THE SCREWS. As I'm sure the other reviews will tell you, they're extremely easy to strip. The cube still locks up but as I get more accurate I find this occurs less and less. 7x7 has become my favourite event now I average anywhere from 5-6 minutes. Great cube for a casual solver looking for a challenge, and also great for those who are looking to get into 7x7. I wouldnt recommend getting the aofu unless you're a serious 7x7 solver (averaging less than 4 minutes).

Side note: 7x7 is also great for making patterns on

Amazing But Striped Screws

Probably will be replaced by the Cubic AoFu but overall, in my opinion this is one of the best 7x7s on the market. Out of the box it was very tight and hard to turn. I've had this for about a week or 2 and done 2 solves on it and it is pretty nice. Loosened all the screws and put some Cubicle Weight 2 and Maru lube in it. But the worst thing that makes me really mad is the screws. They are all stripped and all the screws on the Cubicle are out of stock. I can't even tension at all.

Still hoping for something better...

This has been my main 7x7 for several months and while I like it better than the full size ShengShou or the pillowed AoFu, it's still a challenging cube to use.

After much tinkering with the tensions (which is made quite difficult with the horrible screws that are very prone to stripping), I have yet to find a sweet spot that keeps the cube fast while also keeping it prone from locking and popping.

The pillowed AoFu moves a lot better than this cube and if it wasn't for the pillowing making it too difficult to manipulate, I would probably have picked it over this one.

On the plus side, it is quite smooth and a really great size. When you're in the zone and staying accurate, it's a fun cube to solve.

Hopefully a better 7x7 will be released that will allow me to replace this one. It's my least favorite main at at moment.

Fun to solve

Like most other reviews say, this is a great 7x7. Very smooth out of the box, get better with break-in. I do want to vouch for changing the springs though. After about a week of solid solving and breaking it in, I still felt the layers felt rougher than they should be. I had read about people having success changing to the springs to be softer. So I used an old Dayan 57mm I had and swapped the springs.

The cube is now completely different and better in every way! The stock Shengshou springs are big and very stiff. This makes it hard to tension tight enough to create stability while not feeling tight and rough. If you make it loose enough to turn loosely, lockups are frequent. After hundreds+ solves, this might be fixed, but if you want to skip that a bit, changing the springs allows you to tension the cube tight enough to create stability while allowing all the slices to move freely. If you're not totally satisfied with the feel of this cube, I highly recommend trying a spring swap!
