Product Description

The Eitan & LanLan Edge Turning Octahedron is a jumbling, shape-shifting puzzle. Similar in mechanism to the Curvy Copter III, this puzzle is no joke. Give it a shot if you think you've got what it takes!

Our Promise to You

All of our products are guaranteed to be free of defects, or we will replace and reship at no cost to you. Please contact us within 4 weeks (28 days) past the delivery date to report any issues with items you have purchased.

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

The corners on 2x2 puzzles should not be twisted as doing so may snap the piece. Damage caused by corner twisting is not considered to be a defect.

Pretty fun ETO despite the issues.

The Eitan and LanLan Edge Turning Octahedron is an amazing portable puzzle that has a pretty fun solve. It took me a while to figure out, but once I realized that it was similar to another puzzle I had (hint, think in the line of curvy copters) I managed to figure out what algorithms to use to solve the small triangular edges. Some other pros worth mentioning:
- Smooth turns
- Jumbling moves do not cause any weird rubbing between pieces like other puzzles that jumble
- Small and portable, the entire puzzle fits in my hand quite nicely.
- Can corner cut a bit, and also very hard to pop.
Some cons:
- The stickers are not great, as expected from a LanLan product. They have already started chipping from just 1 week or so of light use.
- Came very stiff out of the box (it was pretty easy to adjust the tensions, but definitely confusing on how to access the screw at first).
- Came in not so good packaging that showed signs of damage(more on this shortly).

This is more of my puzzle, not sure if others have this issue, but mine has one of the big triangles slightly elevated. I've dissembled it and tried to find the source of the issue, but cannot figure out why this happened. My best guess is that it received damage during shipping, as the original box showed signs of wear and like it was tossed around a lot. This is not theCubicle's fault, more of LanLan for the way they have made the packaging. They should've put a bit more effort in the packaging so this wouldn't happen. Thankfully, in my case, this has not caused any weird anomalies when turning and solving the puzzles, there aren't any lock ups or weird piece rubbing happening.

Overall, very happy with the puzzle, it's a fun solve and it's shape shifting/jumbing abilities give it more playability. Now just waiting on LanLan to release a corner turning octahedron so I can have those 3 different types of octahedron for my collection.

Fun challenge!

Got this as a Christmas gift, and had a great time solving it. It turned well right out of the box, I didn't have any issues with jamming or popping, even with some sharp-angled pieces in the mix. I really like the angled aesthetics of the puzzle, and my completionist heart is happy to finally have an edge-turning octahedron for the collection.

Challenge-wise, I'd rank this as a small step harder than a Rua and a big step harder than a Curvy Copter. The change in perspective going to an octahedron is enough to throw you for a loop even if you're well-versed in edge-turning cubes and FTRDs.

Super cool

I really love edge turning puzzles. I love jumbling mechanics and figuring out my own way to solve it. Also the aesthetics of edge turning puzzles is always super cool and unique. This puzzle definitely is no exception to the coolness factor. I personally did not like the solve, I found an algorithm that cycled through the small edge pieces however it was pretty long and I ended up using it for pretty much all the solve. Keeping track of the orbits of the pieces was a really cool challenge and very difficult to me, its just the solving after that step to me was very bland. That isnt to say it is a bad puzzle though and it certainly is one of the best looking puzzles in my collection.
