Product Description

The YJ YuHu R Megaminx is the latest Megaminx from YJ. It features some minor improvements in the internal mechanism over the original YJ YuHu Megaminx that are aimed at enhancing the speedcubing experience while retaining the best qualities of its predecessor.

Please see the related graphic for a comparison of the YJ YuHu and YJ YuHu R. The YJ YuHu R will replace the YJ YuHu.

Notice: We have received some reports of customers receiving the original YJ YuHu Megaminx inside a YJ YuHu R Megaminx box. Unfortunately, we have just confirmed that the manufacturer included a mix of original YJ YuHu with the newer YJ YuHu R, all with the same boxes. We have identified the difference between the actual puzzles and have separated them, so this shouldn't be a problem from now on. If you received a YuHu but were expecting a YuHu R, please contact customer service.

Our Promise to You

All of our products are guaranteed to be free of defects, or we will replace and reship at no cost to you. Please contact us within 4 weeks (28 days) past the delivery date to report any issues with items you have purchased.

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

The corners on 2x2 puzzles should not be twisted as doing so may snap the piece. Damage caused by corner twisting is not considered to be a defect.

Awesome!

My first megaminx. Relly great! Sandy out of the box, but once u break it in very smooth! Awesome megaminx for 12 dollars!

I like it

I got this Megaminx today and I am so happy to have it. It fits my turning style perfectly, which is sandy and controllable. It is also tight right out of the box, which I quite like, but I know more advanced cubers may like it a little more loose. Out of the box, turning is not that great. Nor is the corner cutting. But after lubing this puzzle, it turns much better and corner cuts over a half piece forward and nearly a half piece in reverse. It would be a great megaminx for beginners or intermediates, but not as much for experts.

Good for beginner to intermediate

The cube turns pretty meh out of the box, but once broken in and lubed up it turns fairly well. It turns well, corner cutting is decent, although reverse is atrocious. This could be due to the tight tensions, but those can be fixed easily. Overall, a good cube when broken in and lubed, but you're not going fast otherwise.

YJ YuHu R Megaminx

I recently got a YJ YuHu R (brand new) at my last competition (trading it for my set up YuHu to a person who can't afford lube). Out of the box the cube was very stable, tight, it was dry (as expected) and corner cutting was okay. After breaking it in with about 20 solves, loosening it and doing another 20 solves, the cube became very fast, smooth, and still kept it's stability. What I found is that this cube is slightly harder to grip than the original YuHu, I believe this is due to it being less flimsy, thus making it harder to grip the dips in the pieces.

After the breaking in was done, I now had to set it up, which was actually a shorter process than I thought, I lubed the hardware with a small amount of Weight 5, I then lubed the inner tracks of the pieces with a very tiny amount of Weight 5, then lubed the outer tracks with a small amount of Weight 2, and finally lubed the outside of the pieces with Weight 2. I put this cube on loose tensions, just like with any other Megaminx, and the cube was the best Megaminx I've ever felt. This cube was VERY fast, one might think uncontrollable, but somehow this cube can be controlled at any rate of TPS. This cube felt buttery smooth with a very slight bumpiness, and a very minor crunch and snap. Normal Corner Cutting is way passed line to line, and small cuts don't require that much effort, but reverse cutting is pretty lacking, it can cut half a cubie, but requires quite the effort which will be brought up again in the scentence after this. Even on the loose tensions the cube is STILL very stable, one thing I hated about the original YuHu is that I had to use it on the table all the time since it was very flimsy, now here's the YuHu R, I can solve it in the air flawlessly, although there is 1 slight problem 1 slight problem. The lack of reverse cutting causes minor catching in this cube, it catches about the same as a YueXiao, but it's not as significant as the lockups on the original YuHu. I'm sure if you're an accurate turner, this won't be a problem, and these catches are probably due to my loose tensions

Out of all the X-Mans I've tried, I like my YuHu R better, but it may be due to the Galaxies I've tried weren't set up. I do believe that the perfect set up for the YuHu R is VERY important to make this cube good. If the Cubicle were to have a premium Megaminx, I'm sure the Galaxy would be Top Tier, but I'd say if people wanted a cheaper option, a Cubicle YuHu R is definitely a viable option, and I'd LOVE to see a Cubicle YuHu R.

If you are able to lube your cubes, and don't care much about Megaminx, I HIGHLY recommend the YuHu R. If you want a Top Tier Megaminx for a good price, the YuHu R is my recommendation. If you aren't able to lube your cubes, I'd go with the YuHu R. But if you're able to lube your cubes, you don't care about the price, and you want a REALLY good Megaminx, try out the (Sculpted) X-Man Galaxy.

For now, the YuHu is my main, since I can't afford an X-Man in my currency, and it's not worth it if I'm already happy with my YuHu R.

Really Nice!

Out of the box, this cube was pretty tight, and it was hard to turn. So, I loosened it quite a bit, broke it in, and now, it turns magnificently! This megaminx honestly is better than the dayan, and it is SUPER cheap! I would totally recommend this puzzle to everyone!

Pretty good

Out of the box I wasn't happy with the performance, No corner cutting, and it was very sluggish, I checked the tensions and I found they were very tight, so I loosend the tensions and added a mixture of weight 3 and maru to the pieces, this made the cube controllable and fairly fast, oh and VERY SMOOTH, The corner cutting also improved. The only reason it's not a 5 star is the reverse corner cutting, there almost isnt any due to the huge corners
