X-Man Tornado V5 3x3 (Pioneer UV)

Hi, whoever is reading this. I’m going to warn you RIGHT NOW: you probably don’t need this. I don’t know why you may want this cube, but I can guarantee you have better options than this. Seriously. This cube is arguably very similar to the V3 and V4 in performance, and WAY too similar to other cubes on the market. It IS good, but nothing makes it unique enough for it to be released after so many other puzzles from competitors and nothing justifies it’s price.
If you want to buy this cube because you are currently using a more budget-tier puzzle and want to upgrade, this is definitely not your best option. There’s the v10 if you want a premium moyu cube but have to stay under 40. It has the Pioneer’s features for a price lower by over 15 dollars. You can otherwise get the V3, which is enough for sure, or the V4. Or there’s the v100 if you want a premium feel. You DO NOT need this many adjustable magents! The predecessors to this cube are adjustable enough for any cuber, even a world record holder. If you want everything, including light weight, I can guarantee the V11 is a better choice than this in every way, and it demands the same turning style as this cube anyways. The v11 is faster, lighter, and just more responsive and comfortable. Get the eight or twenty magnet ball core version, and you’ll be good for sure👍.
If you want this because you loved the V4 or the V3 before this and want the new Tornado, I think you should reconsider. This cube is extensively similar to the previous two. The performance on this cube is good, and it is lighter and more adjustable, but that doesn’t mean this is the cube you should buy. The adjustability is not necessary at all, and top cubers don’t need it, so neither do you. And if you want lightness, the V11 takes over and is even lighter to turn too. The eight is better than the Flagship version of this cube, and the 20 V11 is better than the Pioneer in every way.
Now, if you have the expendable income and just want to buy it to see what it’s all about or just because you want a new main and you want this cube and not any other, maybe this is the cube for you! It has almost no problems, and does have fantastic performance. I just want you to know that you don’t NEED a Tornado V5, and you don’t NEED to get it because it’s there. If you don’t have a V4 or a V5 and really want a Tornado or it’s just the best option for you…well, if you are in that position, get the V5. If you know you don’t need to pay 55 dollars for a cube with virtually no unique feel, performance or characteristics, you probably know you don’t need a tornado either. You should get the V5 if a Tornado is the only cube you want, otherwise…you have way cubes to bet on.

Just imagine this as a nice and faster version of tornado. I bought it because i did not like gan and moyu. But always try moyu wrm v11 and gan v100. They feel nice and premium, but magnets may be weak.

Just like the title said guys. I am really really really really upset with this puzzle. I don’t want to return it or anything. It’s just that I spent 55 dollars plus setup on a cube I expected to perform. Instead I got a V3 with a “20 magnet ball core”. Why!!! Why is this a cube!!! This has no difference compared to the V3 premium, same cube, same everything. X-Man design should definitely have spent more time in development for this puzzle to make it really stand out as a 3x3. Seriously, get a V3 and save your money. Thank you

This cube is way too light for no reason. It is crunchy but bro the tension and compression settings are just weird guys. Maybe buy Moyu or Gan, because this cube might make me quit cubing honestly…
Who needs adjustable magnets and all that junk when the cube is trash?

Its an awesome cube and in my opinion so far the best Xman cube deserves 5 stars. There used to be no corner magnets 5 edge magnets and 5 tension and elasticity settings but now there is 9 corner magnets 7 edge magnets and 8 tension and elasticity. This is a huge upgrade and more options to put ur cube at its best performance making it suitable for your . And this cube is already smooth out of the box.

Ok, I need to be very clear here. This cube is absolutely FANTASTIC. Very customizable, larger range of settings, adjustable magnets, very light, more modern feel, faster and smoother turning, everything…
But honestly…it just needs something more. Don’t get me wrong, it is a great cube, but it just isn’t unique enough. It feels a lot like a V3, just much, much lighter and more responsive. But if you want a lighter V3, you can always buy it and set it up with light lubes and looser tensions or literally ANYTHING else that may work for you. And the adjustable edge and corner magnets…this makes the Tornado series have even more options to make the V5 your own. But we just don’t need this. People will buy this cube and then potentially change the magnets once or twice, but after that this cube is no more customizable than the V4 or V3. This cube doesn’t have a humongous difference from the V3 Premium anyway, so why advertise it as a new flagship with so much more to offer?And just generally…nothing makes this unique. Cubers that want a light and fast cube probably have a WRM V11, Gan V100, Gan 12/13/15/16, Tornado V4/V3/V3 Premium, a Superweilong V2, or something else. If that many cubers already have a light, smooth, and responsive cube, they don’t need to get another cube unless it has something that you need and don’t have. And that’s the issue with this cube! It is a bit different from the V3, but the performance is similar and the feel is too. And just generally…it takes all the standard metas in 3x3 and puts it in one puzzle. This makes the cube something that isn’t unique. It like is any other light cube with a ball core, and this cube is being released a year after something like the V11. It doesn’t have anything that makes the performance better for YOU, or any other cube, for the fact. It is light and fast and blocky, yeah, but is it more flexible? More controllable? More balanced? More stable, airy, rounded, soft, smooth, or any other characteristic? No, it’s just a cube which has the general idea of what a good cube should be! I suggest that most people don’t buy this cube, not because the performance is bad, as it is actually excellent, but because there are various other puzzles like this one that have many of the same characteristics as the V5, but they have something special about them, something which makes it better or worse than a different cube, and not neither. For example, the V100 is smaller, softer and crunchier than other cubes on the market and features black internals and a more flexible GAN handfeel. Or the Weilong V11 is an extremely fast, fluid, light, responsive, and forgiving cube which is still easy to make controllable.
See what I mean yet? This IS a good cube, but it can always be beaten by another cube because this cube is just NOT unique enough and just doesn’t have anything that makes it its own cube.
So generally, I would say only buy this cube if you want a Tornado and need every ounce of adjustability and performance you can get. Otherwise, pick something else.

Go get the Gan v100 or Weilong v11 instead of this or you will regret it

Good cube. Fast, light, airy, kind of a like a more recent MoYu cube mixed with a Gan cube, but with a very Tornado-like twist. But I don’t see why it is necessary over the V3 Premium or a V4. Those cubes were great and this seems like it is only a somewhat small difference from that. However, I will say that this is a bit more adjustable and a tad bit more premium than those cubes.
Should you buy it?
Yes, if: You don’t have a flagship or more premium ranged 3x3, like the V100, 16, V11(8 or 20 magnet), Ferrocore V2, etc.
OR: You have a good 3x3, but need a new main and don’t already own a Tornado, particularly the V3 or V4
No if:
You have recently purchased a recent flagship/premium 3x3, like the V11 20 magnet ball core version, Gan 16, or other previously mentioned cube or similar cube.
OR
If you have a V3, V3 Premium, or V4

I mainly think you shouldn’t get this cube if you have the V3 Premium or other listed Tornados because if you are looking for a new main, it is not the most beneficial to buy a cube that feels the same. I recommend actually keeping the Tornado you have or probably just switching to Gan or Moyu.

But if you REALLY love the X-Man/Tornado 3x3 line and want a new main after owning a V3/V4, I believe you will still enjoy this cube, it’s just that maybe maining a more unique or varietal cube even if it’s not from your favorite brand will help you more by improving your turning style and giving you a more unique hand feel.
But if you get it:
Set up with Weight 5 or something else. Maybe Calm? Dignitas? Don’t use something like stealth though, just because it won’t work with a slightly more tacky 3x3. Or maybe it will work.

The Tornado v5 Pioneer is super good! It is much better than the Tornado v4, and definitely better than the Weilong v11. I would definitely get this over the Weilong v11, especially since the Weilong v11 doesn't have nearly as many features. This cube cam compete with higher price range cubes, like the GAN 16 MAX too. I would highly recommend this cube!
