Our Promise to You

All of our products are guaranteed to be free of defects, or we will replace and reship at no cost to you. Please contact us within 4 weeks (28 days) past the delivery date to report any issues with items you have purchased.

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

The corners on 2x2 puzzles should not be twisted as doing so may snap the piece. Damage caused by corner twisting is not considered to be a defect.

It's not bad but it's got issues

My take on this is... if you're a collector and you're dead set on getting a face-turning icosahedron for your collection, go ahead and pick this one up. It's not great but it's good enough. If, instead, all you're looking for is an impressive-looking puzzle with about this same level of difficulty, pick up one of the Bauhinia puzzles instead. You'll have more fun with those.

The biggest issues here are with construction. It straight-up does not want to turn counter-clockwise on any face — thankfully it is at least consistent in this regard but something about translating every R L' R' L into an R L2 R2 L was enough of a change to make me lose my place a lot and then I'd screw up and get set back a couple steps to fix the puzzle... and it just felt like the frustrating kind of challenge more than the satisfying kind because of this. Its size is just large enough that it just kind of feels uncomfortable in your hands and you've really gotta get your whole wrist into the turn to get this thing to move. And even when I was turning it clockwise-only I had multiple pops to fix over the course of a solve.

But those drawbacks aside, the challenge of figuring out how to get the pieces in place is a fun and approachable one. Being comfortable with commutators is necessary but you'll be able to unlock its secrets. Experience with redi-minx, face-turning octahedron, and (obviously) Bauhinia helped me out with my solve but I wouldn't say those are strict prerequisites.
