The corners on 2x2 puzzles should not be twisted as doing so may snap the piece. Damage caused by
corner twisting is not considered to be a defect.

Before I dive into this review, I want to mention that I already own three regular AoSu V7 Double-Track cubes (excluding this Matte version) and a Single-Track version. I’ll be directly comparing this special edition to those.
Out of the box, the AoSu V7 Double-Track Matte was very fast, dry, scratchy, and extremely uncontrollable. This changed drastically after tensioning, and even before any lubrication. The turning immediately stood out: it was insanely light, much easier to perform slice moves than any of my other AoSu V7s. The magnet strength (both outer and inner layers) felt more subtle compared to the regular Double-Track and Single-Track versions, but still pronounced enough to keep turning clean.
This is very close to what my dream 4x4 would turn like. On the standard Double-Track and Single-Track versions, slice moves required a lot more force, and I experienced more catches. On the Matte Special Edition, these problems were gone — slice moves are much lighter, and I catch far less. After only a few dozen solves, I even managed to break my personal best with a sub-35 second single, which says a lot about the cube’s potential.
Physically, the cube is slightly lighter, weighing 98g compared to the regular Double-Track’s 99g — likely because of the lack of UV coating. But the "lighter" feeling isn't just about weight: the turning itself is physically easier. Movements feel effortless compared to the standard editions.
In terms of stability, I initially experienced a few catches simply because of how fast the cube was, but no major lockups or pops occurred during solves. It feels reliable.
Now for the finish: I’m a huge fan of matte and satin finishes. The cube looks much more premium, especially when you consider that many puzzles today come with high price tags. I didn’t notice any meaningful difference in grip during solves compared to UV-coated versions. However, the Matte version looks much cleaner and sophisticated in my eyes. MoYu nailed the aesthetic here, and I hope they start offering more non-UV versions in the future, also using this cleaner logo.

Final Verdict:
The AoSu V7 Double-Track Matte Special Edition is easily my new main — it's the perfect choice for anyone who wants a fast, light-turning 4x4 that looks and feels premium right out of the box.
10$ cheaper than the standard double track and significantly better, also comes in Matte, which I prefer over UV coating, and also moyu's UV coating tends to have bad quality, overall great cube and I recommend over the standard Aosu double track from a performance aspect and a price aspect
I'm a slow solver, so this review may not be relevant to many others. This is the best of six 4x4 puzzles I've tried. It's fast out of the box. In particular, both inner and outer layers are fast. Importantly, all layers are equally fast. It seems stable. I've had no lockups or pops. Perhaps the edge-to-corner magnets could be a bit stronger? It improves on the standard AoSu V7 double-track by allowing you to separate the two inner layers and to make single layer slice turns without resistance. It retains the advantage (for me) of the smaller size of the AoSu V7. Matte or UV is a personal preference. It's faster and smaller than the otherwise good Vin 4x4. This puzzle is an instant main for me!

The MoYu AoSu V7 Double Track Special Edition comes in a box that looks a bit different from the other AoSu V7 cubes. It’s a little neater looking but also feels slightly cheaper than before—not a big deal, but worth mentioning. Inside, you’ll find the usual screwdriver, cards, and pamphlet. There’s nothing special in terms of extras.
The real star is the cube itself. It turns very smoothly and glides even better than older versions. The upgraded ballcore is easy to notice, making the cube feel more stable and controlled.
Surprisingly, this special edition costs less than the regular Double Track but actually performs better. If you’re serious about 4x4, this is the one to get.
I used to main the AoSu V7 Single Track, and this special edition definitely feels better. From what I’ve heard, the difference between the regular Double Track and the Special Edition double track is small—just a minor upgrade. If you already have the Double Track, you can stick with it, but if you’re thinking about buying, the Special Edition is the best option right now.
Got the matte version because it was on sale but still ended up being really nice in the hand. The turning with the double track is amazing right out of the box. I added very minimal lube and it just plays so well. Great product.
Inner layers are bit clicky but in a helpful way. inner corner cutting is the best 4x4 has ever seen. same goes for the outer layers. literally as good as my wrmv10. if your current 4x4 is a bit on the bigger side, it does some get used to the smaller size of this puzzle but let me tell you the size is just perceft. i wouldnt get the uv version too. the matte finish is in my opinion more premium looking. my wrm10 has a uv and this beatiful 4x4 looks and feels better. out of the box the cube is a bit loose but after some tentioning, the loose feel is gone and its fast yet controllable. i used some silk and weight 5 in the springs, amazing amazin and amazing. the only downside of this cube is that its better than the original and if you have the original, may not be worth upgrading. thats the only bad thing i can say. i was averaging 50-55 secs, after 3 days of solving and getting used to, i comfortably average 46-48. my prior 4x4 was really bad tho. basically just buy this 4x4 you will NOT be dissapointed
Noticably faster and crisper than the original double track. Solving on this is a dream!
This is easily the best version of this cube. It has different springs than the original as well as a ballcore, with these changes it makes a already premium cube feel more premium! An angstrom set-up would take this next level
