Compound X is a water-based lube designed for faster puzzles developed by Angstrom Research. Compound X uses the attraction of charged silicone polymers to slow down puzzles at the molecular level. This slowing effect lasts longer than traditional silicone, and also doesn’t result in a gummy silicone feeling.
Compound X should not to be applied to hardware. Water based lubes should not be applied to the screws or springs as this will likely lead to rust issues.
This lube is scented with a sweet pomegranate aroma.
Note: There may be some variation in color due to the processes involved in manufacturing, but the formulation and properties are the same.
For best results, apply two drops, and break in thoroughly. To clean, gently wipe off your puzzle pieces with a damp cloth.
Disclaimer: Although the lube is perfectly safe to touch, please do not ingest it, set it on fire, or expose it to extremely high temperatures.
- 10cc or 3cc bottle of Compound X

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

It slows down the cube. It doesn’t make it sluggish though.
It works just how it’s supposed to, but you have to squeeze the bottle reeaallly hard to get any of it out, but other than that, it’s just what you’d expect.
It does exactly as advertised, I love it, I was just surprised that it actually slowed down the cube while feeling exactly the same.
I have used this lube on several of my 3x3s and 4x4s and it sure helps, & pairs nicely with DNM-37. Just one
caveat: when using on bigger cubes (6x6 & 7x7), it seems to focus on central pieces and can be a real drag
I put this in my GAN X V2 and it slowed it down and made it a lot smoother, which is what I bough it for. It also smells really, really good. I let my brother smell the cube I lubed with this and now he is randomly picking up my cubes and smelling. Good if you want to slow down your cube just a bit.
This lube works perfectly, I put it in the inner layers of my aochuang gts m because the magnets are weak which makes it unstable during 3x3 stage but this fixed the problem entirely without giving it that gummy feel that silicone generates. I also combined it with mystic to give a balanced feel on my yupo v2 m. The only downside is that your cube smells like candy, which might not be a downside for some people but it might get kinda annoying. Well this is sort of annoying, I still think this lube deserves five stars for working perfectly.
DO NOT PUT THE LUBE IN THE CORE. And if you only put the lube on the outer pieces, you notice almost no difference in speed. On the tracks however, it slows it down great without a gummy feel. The more you apply, the more it slows down your cube, which is pretty handy. However, sometimes you need to use a lot. I’d recommend weight 5 because it’s cheaper and you don’t need to apply as much. This lube I’d say is still special though, because it slows the cube down with a much less gummy feel than weight 5.
So i tried this out in a cyclone boys cube that had a bit of lube in it and it turned out fairly well, it made the cube smell nice and slowed it down but had a bit of a gummy feel (could also be that i might have added nebula but idk if i did) so havent fully tested it out well so its probably more of a 5 star, overall, smell is amazing, slows down your cube, get this lube
The only reason i give this 4 instead of 5, is that it doesn't do what it said it would, it makes the cube really controllable, but it doesn't slow it down.
Angstrom says what it does. It's not a slower lube by any means. Its a controle lube. i feel I add Compound X to my cubes as a controller. Once i get the cube moving freely and gliding with mechanically ease (not catching or bumping around), with Angstrom Dignitas and Gravitas. Then its time for Compound X, to give me the Control over the puzzle. 2 to 3 drops NO MORE of Compound X gives the puzzle a buttery smooth vibe. then Ill finish off with DNM37 on top for the speed that lube provides.
I love the smell of Compound X. I know exactly what puzzle has had the treatment. and now when i grab a cube that doesn't have that aroma im almost missing something in the experience of solving.
bring back compound 5! LOL
