Product Description

The Hexacubic Designs MGC 4x4 core magnet kit was engineered with ease of installation in mind. It is the first in the market to have a snap-on installation process that requires no disassembly of the core. This kit was made specifically for the MGC 4x4 and will only work with the MGC 4x4.

The kit is light blue and features a ball core design, eliminating issues of core-piece collision present in other core kits.

The two pieces of this kit can snap onto the core and can be held on without glue. We highly recommend that you apply glue to the core before snapping it on. We recommend using non-expanding glue to avoid damaging the kit. Due to manufacturing variations on YJ MGC 4x4 corners, you may have to cut off the small protruding pin of the corner insert to install the kit.

The kit contains 2 core attachments, 8 corner attachments, 1 sticker, and one manual.

Our Promise to You

All of our products are guaranteed to be free of defects, or we will replace and reship at no cost to you. Please contact us within 4 weeks (28 days) past the delivery date to report any issues with items you have purchased.

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

The corners on 2x2 puzzles should not be twisted as doing so may snap the piece. Damage caused by corner twisting is not considered to be a defect.

Good Idea but magnets are too strong

while this definitely makes the outer slices much more stable, it also makes the magnet strength of the whole puzzle a lot higher than it should be. The inner layers feel actually heavy to turn. a mod or feature like this could work in a 4x4 with weaker magnets but the MGCs are too strong.

Pretty Good if you like stronger magnetic cubes

I usually set up my cubes to be on the slow end and I prefer stronger magnets so for me its really good. The core magnets aren't going to make your cube auto adjust like the Gan 13, but you definitely feel it when turning.

thoughts after 2 weeks of maining this

There are only 2 problems I have encountered consistently. First problem that comes up sometimes is some sort of catching issue. Im not sure if it is an MGC thing or if its the core magnets but I double checked that the magnets are flush and the core was installed correctly and it is. But, I still experience a weird catching issue when turning inner layers sometimes. It feels like it might go away over time from the plastic breaking in so I wouldn't be to worried about it. The biggest issue I encounter has actually ruined solves completely and I haven't really found a solution. Sometimes when you try to do a wide move (like when doing the wide U2 in pll parity alg) the cube decides to pull a Rubik's and ONLY turn the inner layer, leaving to outer layer where it was. So after the pll parity alg, Ill have centers and edges misplaced and dont know how to put them back quickly so it ruines the solve. I enjoy the magnet strength but I also really like very strong magnets so keep in mind these do increase the magnet strength considerably. I also wish they could find a way to make these non permanent so you if you put them into your puzzle and hate it, you don't have a useless $30 paperweight.

amazing kit and new main

This kit is quite easy to install. After the cube was assembled, the magnets were to strong and was turning the inner layer itself without turning the top layer. After lubing with fast lube and making the tensions looser, the cube was so good. This kit makes the mgc 4x4 better than the aosu 4x4 imo.

Trash

This thing is trash. It all started when I was putting it together. The magnetic core part broke, and I had to glue it back together. Then, when I put the cube back together, it was catching all over the place, and the reason for that was that the magnets were bulging out. One even came out. So when I was putting it back together I noticed that one of the magnets were repelling. Turns out, I glued that magnet that fell out on the wrong polarity. And because it was super glued back on, there was nothing I could do. I know I should have checked the polarities, but these problems wouldn't even happened in the first place if the quality was just better. Now my MGC 4x4 is ruined. Seriously, don't buy this kit if you want to keep your MGC 4x4.

Needs more testing and quality control

This mod started out great, but it quickly devolved into a wide array of issues that included loose magnets and magnets that were way too strong. The mod also ended up damaging my core. Don't get this until they do more testing!

Hi Roxana,

Thanks for your review, and I am sorry to hear about this! If you would like, we can take your cube back to figure out what happened and either repair it or send you a new one with the kit pre-installed.

Bad after a while

Worked good, but i bit too strong, then it fell off. I re-glues it 2 times, and it still fell off.
