Our Promise to You

All of our products are guaranteed to be free of defects, or we will replace and reship at no cost to you. Please contact us within 4 weeks (28 days) past the delivery date to report any issues with items you have purchased.

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

The corners on 2x2 puzzles should not be twisted as doing so may snap the piece. Damage caused by corner twisting is not considered to be a defect.

Great puzzle! But requires modding...

So, I ordered this puzzle originally in May after noticing a few videos about speed solving it. When the puzzle arrived, I was overall underwhelmed, the puzzle out of the box is stiff, but that can be solved by loosening the tensions a bit. The bigger problem was the catching. This puzzle is over 10 years old, and the design definitely shows it. It is blocky, catchy and there are very pointed edges on every piece. I looked around online and I discovered a tutorial by Ben Streeter about how to modify the puzzle to improve the performance. So I followed it, and 6 hours later, I had finished the first modded puzzle I've done in years. After lube and fiddling with the tensions some more, I had a fluid turning puzzle that I could speed solve on. 1500 solves and a 5th place at Cubing at Home 1.4, I can say that this puzzle performs much better than it may seem ootb. There are still some popping issues and obviously not many people want to extensively mod their puzzle. But with some care and attention, this puzzle can be fun and enjoyable to solve!

This is a Review of the Solving Experience, not the Puzzle Performance

This puzzle isn't that good. It definitely needs modding to speedsolve. However, actually speedsolving is a wonderful experience. It is very different from WCA puzzles, I don't usually solve anything outside of the WCA puzzles. The community is great for FTO. Honestly, it amaze me that no other companies have jumped on this, because if they an FTO that is up to modern standards, they'd have all our money.

The best FTO on the market, sadly

It's slow, doesn't corner cut at all, and has a popping problem. However, it's still the best FTO on the market, which is quite sad.

Best FTO on the market; still trash.

FTO is such an interesting and fun puzzle, it's a real shame there's no actual good hardware on the market for it. Gan, YJ, somebody's gotta get to it and make a proper stickerless speed-FTO! Out of the box, the LanLan one feels like a 1980 Rubik's cube (and I'm old enough to remember that!). If you mod it the way benpuzzles says (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EQfftDW0EQ), then it's actually pretty ok. Not great, but pretty ok. But be forewarned, modding an FTO puts you in for MANY HOURS of fiddly sanding and smoothing of the pieces. Definitely worth it, but wow, I do not want to have to do that again. The stickers on the LanLan are also pretty cheap. I've bought two of these puzzles now (one modded, one not), and the stickers are already starting to peel up and flake around the edges after about 50 solves. Please, can some manufacturer make a _proper_ stickerless FTO? It's such a cool puzzle, I just don't think there's any way it will get real traction in the community while the hardware is such trash. If you want an FTO, the LanLan is the best you'll find, but like I said, that's a real shame.

LanLan Octahedron

I think that the puzzles is a fun solve, but the cube is just so horrible that you might as well not buy it. Even with loosening the tensions it still is very catchy, just with added pops. A better alternative is either to follow benpuzzles' tutorial or print a rexTO

Subpar Puzzle

OK, so to start off I ordered this cube because it looked like a fun solve, but little did I know how wrong I was. This puzzle is extremely stiff out of the box, and weight 4 cubicle lube and tensioning only helped a little. It turns OK now, but by no means can it cornercut or go fast. Lockups are pretty uncommon, as well as pops, and that as well as the fact that it would be a good solve without mechanical problems got it the two stars.

I would not recommend this puzzle to anyone, unless you are looking to put it in a collection and not solve much or ever.

Please give this a thumbs up if this review helped you, so other people can see it. Thanks.

Bad... but still worth buying.

The cube isn't necessarily the best hardware, but it is a super fun cube that put me in hour long trances.

The solve is fun, mostly intuitive and I like it, but I docked a star because it pops and dosent turn well.

Great puzzle!

Having solved cubes and pyraminx before, I was looking for a new adventure. This octahedron was just what I was looking for. Maybe a little stiff, but doesn't break of stack. Something like a 80s Rubik kinda experience. In any case, I'm not a fast handed solver. I work fairly slowly and for me it is all about the riddle. For those who are looking for a good riddle - get it!
