Product Description

Compound X is a water-based lube designed for faster puzzles developed by Angstrom Research. Compound X uses the attraction of charged silicone polymers to slow down puzzles at the molecular level. This slowing effect lasts longer than traditional silicone, and also doesn’t result in a gummy silicone feeling.

Compound X should not to be applied to hardware. Water based lubes should not be applied to the screws or springs as this will likely lead to rust issues.

This lube is scented with a sweet pomegranate aroma.

If you are curious about trying this lube, check out our 1cc sampler size here.

Note: There may be some variation in color due to the processes involved in manufacturing, but the formulation and properties are the same.

For best results, apply two drops, and break in thoroughly. To clean, gently wipe off your puzzle pieces with a damp cloth.

Disclaimer: Although the lube is perfectly safe to touch, please do not ingest it, set it on fire, or expose it to extremely high temperatures.

Comes with:

  • 10cc or 3cc bottle of Compound X

Our Promise to You

All of our products are guaranteed to be free of defects, or we will replace and reship at no cost to you. Please contact us within 4 weeks (28 days) past the delivery date to report any issues with items you have purchased.

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

The corners on 2x2 puzzles should not be twisted as doing so may snap the piece. Damage caused by corner twisting is not considered to be a defect.

Smells incredible

I put this in my GAN X V2 and it slowed it down and made it a lot smoother, which is what I bough it for. It also smells really, really good. I let my brother smell the cube I lubed with this and now he is randomly picking up my cubes and smelling. Good if you want to slow down your cube just a bit.

just get weight 5

i really don't understand this lube. it slows it down fine but the problem is so does weight 5.
you can get 25cc of weight 5 for around the same price as 10cc of this
the only downside to weight 5 is that it make your cube a little gummy, which compound X doesn't do.
also you can use weight 5 as a core lube but you can't use compound X because its water based and will rust the springs.
also the smell is way to strong. its fine at first, but i get a little light headed after smelling it for too long
overall, i would recommend just getting weight 5 because its way cheaper and doesn't make you want to throw up.
and if you still want some, i recommend just the 3cc because honestly, it will last forever since you only need like half a drop to notice the slowing effect.
i got a 10cc and i feel like i can pass the bottle down for 5 generations and it still won't be used up
also to cubicle, please work of the smell, it's so bad

Great lube, bizzare smell

I still give CX 5 stars caus ei like the lube, but the scent has a bizzare after scent that smells like my grandma's perfume. Still love the lube and will buy more when I run out

Works great, but the Smell is Kinda Annoying

This lube works perfectly, I put it in the inner layers of my aochuang gts m because the magnets are weak which makes it unstable during 3x3 stage but this fixed the problem entirely without giving it that gummy feel that silicone generates. I also combined it with mystic to give a balanced feel on my yupo v2 m. The only downside is that your cube smells like candy, which might not be a downside for some people but it might get kinda annoying. Well this is sort of annoying, I still think this lube deserves five stars for working perfectly.

Very Good

I love this lube. It does exactly what its supposed to do, it slows the cube down without making it gummy. I also love how it is pomegranate scented.

I really don't understand this lube

Got a free 3cc bottle of this stuff with my Gan 356 X pre-order. According to the description, it's supposed to slow to the cube without feeling gummy, and it's supposed to last longer as well. From my experience, exactly none of that is true. I put a couple of drops into the factory lubed 356 X, and nothing happened. It felt exactly the same as before. After breaking in some more, I tried again with a little more, and again, nothing happened. Well, it's wrong to say nothing happened...it did make the cube smell terrible. LIke cheap candy that advertises that it's "fruit" flavored, but that doesn't actually smell or taste like any fruit that occurs anywhere in the world.

Once I got my setup on my cube close, I took it apart to lube it the way I like it. A liberal amount of Gravitas on the feet, and a small amount of Dignitas on the pieces for smoothness (this cube does not need any more speed). I had a feel I liked, but I wanted it a little slower, so I decided to try the X again. Two drops later and the first thing it did was get faster. A few solves later, it had come back to the same speed, but very gummy feeling. Another dozen solves later, it was gone and all I felt was the Gravitas again.

So, to summarize, it doesn't work, somehow feels gummy while it's not working, doesn't last more than 50 solves, and smells awful. Go buy Gravitas instead. It actually slows down a cube, and feels smooth, not gummy.

Compound X

So i went to a compettition, and a friend of mine let me borrow his compound x for my helicopter moyu weilong maglev pyraminx. I tried it, and it smelled like a sharpie died inside of a bannanna. However, it does slow it down, but the moyu weilong maglev pyraminx is unstoppable.
