FZ-Calm

People have been saying great things about this new line of lubes, so I decided to give them a try. My expectations weren’t particularly high. I thought that people were maybe succumbing to what I’ll call the “new product effect.” Whenever something new comes out, people are often uncritical of that new thing for a bit. After a time, that new product effect wears off, then people start being more objective and critical about said product. That’s what I assumed was happening with all the glowing reviews of this FZ line. Don’t get me wrong — I expected a quality product — but I didn’t expect what I got.

I’ve extensively tried out pretty much every type of lubricant you can buy, from super-high viscosity Traxxas to water based DNM-37, and everything in between. I’ve gone through a number of different preferred setups, but since the Tornado V3 released, I’ve been using the flagship with Weight 5 Silicone lubricant on the springs, Angstrom Dignitas on the core and tracks, and DNM-37 on the mating surfaces of the pieces. I couldn’t imagine a much better cube than this setup I was using, that was until I tried the FZ line, specifically calm.

The only I reason I couldn’t imagine a better cube is because I didn’t know what I was missing until I felt it. There’s no other way to say it, FZ calm is the best lubricant I’ve ever used. It’s like I didn’t even know what smoothness was until I tried it. As long as you don’t overlubricate, this lube will give your cube the most buttery smooth turning that you can imagine. It removes that tactile clicking sensation entirely, which I absolutely love. It’s exactly what I want in a lube, just perfection. If you want your turns to feel like they’re gliding on a buttered cloud made of Teflon, this is the lube for you. The hydroxy base of this lube also makes work perfectly with any water based lubricant like DNM-37. I find that when that smoothness starts to wear off a bit, just one or two small drops of DNM-37 will rehydrate the hydroxy base of the FZ calm and bring it back to its original state. In my preferred setup now, I do everything the same as previously described, but I mostly replaced the DNM-37 with FZ calm and now I only use DNM-37 sparingly just to rehydrate the Calm every so often. As far as FZ rush goes, I like it, but not quite enough for it to replace DNM-37 in my setups. Calm is the real gem of this line, at least as far as my preferences are concerned.

The lube makes my cube nice and smooth. The viscosity is more than mystic but less than silk. I think it does not have as much cushion as mystic and is a little slower than Mystic.
If I were to make a cubicle stats page I would rate it:
Speed: 3
Viscosity: 2 or 3
cushion:3 or 4

First off, get the 10cc, I bought the 3cc just to try it and I can guarantee you that I will be buying more when I run out. This lube is amazing, it manages to make your puzzle very controlable while not sacrificing its speed too much like some other lubes do. This lube also gives your cube a very enjoyable buttery smooth feel that just makes me want to keep solving.

this lube is so fast tgat it felt like water was in my cube. Not ruining it, but making it feel much more glidier and honestly I think you can't go wrong getting this for yourself!

I tried this at US nationals, it feels extremely plush and smooth, and slows down/makes your cube more controllable. kind of like silk.

Unlike all of the others, I've tried. There is a smoothness factor that is different than anything I've ever felt before. It feels buttery smooth with a hint of sandy feeling. Unlike mystic which has more of a gliding feeling. I'm getting a lot less lockups with this stuff.

While FZ-Rush needs some sort of complement, this one is able to stand alone. It lasts a long time, doesn't make your cube gunky, and it makes your cube feel smoother, somewhat softer, and a bit more controllable. Due to the smoothness, it may actually make it feel faster, so I combine it with FZ-Rush and Gravitas, both of which are on the pieces. I've bought basically all the different lubricants around, and I can say this is one of my favorites.

This is the best lube ever!!! It makes your cube feel like butter and also very smooth

Combine with weight 5 and it works like a dream, I added it to my Tornado V3 (Pioneer) because it is a naturally FAST cube After adding Calm it completely changed the dynamic of the cube and gave it a controllable and plush feeling. 10/10

i've tried a lot of lubes, but this is definitely my favorite.
