Our Promise to You

All of our products are guaranteed to be free of defects, or we will replace and reship at no cost to you. Please contact us within 4 weeks (28 days) past the delivery date to report any issues with items you have purchased.

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

The corners on 2x2 puzzles should not be twisted as doing so may snap the piece. Damage caused by corner twisting is not considered to be a defect.

Off-Brand GearShift Cube with Several Imperfections.

Functionally it is the same as the original Gear Shift cube. The issues with it however, are as follows:

Movement:
Theres a ton of friction when moving pieces. Specifically exact opposite corner spinning causes a large amount of friction, Which the original doesn't have. The texture of the cube isnt smooth, and contains a lot of friction points.

Opening Sides:
Many times, the mechanism for opening the cube on its 3 gets stuck. Maybe 1/3 of the time it just opens halfway, and you have to force it the rest of the way.

Build Quality:
Objectively its kind of decent, but, the screws holding together the Mechanism that allows you to separate the cube into 2 sides is very weak. 2 screws came loose within the first hours. I had to epoxy them back in to make them stay. So now they're permanently Stuck in the cube.

Overall Report:
If you want the cube for just the new puzzle it offers, Get it. But be patient and easy with it. If you want the cube to solve many many times over a long period, then get the Official cube that is 25-35. Solving this cube a few times will probably be okay, but sustained use doesn't appear to be possible with the build quality it offers.

Good but bad

Its a good puzzle and its quite fun but its just such cheap material so its hard to turn and I cant solve it because the cube wouldn't open up all the way and kept getting stuck

It's okay

This is a really good puzzle, but I have been experiencing some catches when snapping in and out. But overall, it's a good puzzle.

I wasn't expecting the colored parts to be stickers that have the texture of matte Band Aids. Interesting. The white stickers have yellow stains on them; unfortunately, when I started playing with this cube it was at night. I only noticed the yellow marks in the morning. So I can't tell if they've been that way when I got them or if the color from the yellow face rubbed off on my fingers and got transferred to the white face. Either way, it's still a fun puzzle to solve and one that I had been looking forward to owning for a while now.

A very fun puzzle with one problem (fixed)

For those who don’t know, this puzzle, also called the gear shift, has 8 gears that all spin together. However, you can also pull opposite sides apart in three ways (x, y, and z axis) to turn the four gears of any face on their own. It solves completely differently from a 2x2 or even a regular gear cube. In addition, the transparent blue version (which I purchased) glows in the dark. This puzzle is also great for fidgeting. It has excellent sticker quality and gear quality, especially for the price.

The problem I mentioned in the title is that I had a hard time pulling the sides apart at first. Sometimes, if I’m pulling the left and right sides apart, I’ll do an x rotation (to make the bottom/top on front) and it’ll suddenly work. Sometimes, it requires a ton of force; other times, it works immediately. I resolved this problem for the most part by adding lube to the inside. You will need to pull the cube apart constantly to solve it, so it became much more fun when it could separate easily.

Great feel

I read previous reviews and I saw that the transparent blue one glows in the dark so that help me to decide on which one.
Yes by the way, it does glow so that's fun.
This is my first gear Cube so I had no idea what to expect. Let me just say, to those who are like me and have not used a gear Cube before, this is almost two puzzles and a fidget Cube in one.
You have the first level which is just scrambling and then solving. Next, you can pull it out not just one but two levels away from the center and and then he comes a challenge to match all the gears as well as the colors. Finally, I found that it's meditative to just use it as a fidget tool. I found myself just enjoying this puzzle on three different levels.... and it glows in the dark! That is if you get the transparent blue. I will let you know that it does not glow 4 a long time so it's not going to keep you awake nor will you be able to see in the dark with it, perhaps that's why it's not listed as a glow in the dark Cube.
Overall, I give this a 5(cubed), that's a five for each level.
