out of the box, the cube reminded me a lot of the meilong 4 m because it was fast and swooshy, the tensions were perfect and corner-cutting was great.
whilst I was setting up the cube I noticed that the center lip of the cube was getting grinded by the bottom of the spring and little plastic chunks were coming off, this is most likely due to the springs being low quality with a rough end on the springs. some of the ways to fix this would be to either add a washer to the bottom, add some thick lube like weight 5, or what I recommend, lubicle black, sand down the end of the spring to smoothed it out, or all of the above.
i set up the pieces with a lot of lubicle 1 and quit a bit of silk and weight 5 in the inner layers to make 3x3 stage more enjoyable as the inner layers are being held together by both the magnets and thicker lube.
in conclusion, I think that this is a great 5x5 for its price but there is just 1 small problem with the core but there is an easy fix. overall this cube is great and I dropped my times by about 25 seconds.
I highly recommend this cube as long as if you are willing to fix the core
Okay, a lot of people reviewed and said that this cube wasn’t that great, but it is honestly the best budget magnetic 5x5!! (Honestly better than some non-budget 5x5’s) . I mean it’s a great size, it rarely locks up on me, the magnet strength is good, it’s extremely smooth, and it’s was fantastic right out of the box! I think it’s a great 5x5 for immediate cubers, beginners, and maybe pro cubers!! All around, it’s just a great cube for a great price! Ps: it doesn’t feel boxy, or and it feels nothing like the non-Magnetic 4x4 !!!
It’s really good I set it up but I had to tighten it a lot because it was locking up and popping
Currently the smallest, lightest and one of the lowest priced magnetic 5x5s in the market
Feels like holding a container of baby powder out of the box if that makes sense but that feeling went away after breaking in
Same color as the MoYu Meilong 2M, 4M and RS3 M 2020
1g lighter than the Meilong 4M
This cube is worth the price, but it is kind of small, and takes some getting used to. The magnet strength is really nice, and I got my first sub-2 minute solve on this. After lubing, I think it's very good. I think it can take on the Little Magic 5x5 M, and the Qiyi MS 5x5, and the YJ YuChuang v2 M. This cube is everything that the original Meilong 5x5 wasn't. Very good cube.
THE PROBLEM: The springs are very sharp and bite away at the center pieces. A few sides of the cube suddenly started making loud grinding noises, and that's because the spring's sharp end is scraping the plastic off the internals (see image below).
THE SOLUTION: rub the sharp ends of each spring on sandpaper (I used 220 grit) until the ends are rounded off and don't feel sharp anymore. It worked great for me.
Performance: cube is too tight out of the box and hard to turn. When loosened, the cube speeds up drastically and starts to corner cut well. It's stable, lightweight and has a reasonable magnet strength. I like it a lot.
Size: at 60mm, this 5x5 is about the same size as many 4x4 cubes, which is crazy. The compact size feels comfortable, but the outer layers are slim and sometimes hard to grip.
Overall, great value for $12. However, you must be willing to modify the springs to stop the cube from destroying itself internally. If not, look elsewhere (QiYi MS 5x5 may be a good option, but I've never tried it)
So this cube isnt that good, but it has size in its favor, this cube is REALLY tight ootb and has to be loosened, Its super comfortable to hold while solving, but the turning isnt as good as the size, to be fair though, i havent set it up yet, so it can improve, if your looking for a first 5x5 then this would be decent, but i would say get this if u want a small 5x5 and are willing to do some work with it, overall not that bad of a cube
