DaYan ZhanChi 2017
The DaYan ZhanChi is back! With its first 3x3 release in over 6 years, DaYan has completely revamped the classic ZhanChi with modern speedcubing features while preserving some of the basic design aspects from the original puzzle. The ZhanChi 2017 features more rounded centers and a capped edge and corner design, along with grooves along the interior for a smoother feel.

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

If Dayan keeps improving their cubes they will be on par with other 3x3s. Cant wait for the 2018 model if it comes out.

Idk. The cube is ok i guess. Mine came extremely tight and i had to use a screwdriver to get a piece out. After tensioning, lube, and about 1000 solves, the cube was still bad. But it was better.
it is a very unstable cube but smooth and clacky best if magnetized
this cube is not my main but it has been my current main is the *valk 3 power. i like how dayan tried to upgrade the zhanchi, because the original was by-far my main for a while. i don't even have to set it up. when i first got this cube was averaging around sub-30 now about sub-10. this cube absolutely worth it and i would recommend it's smooth, fast feel to about every one. and it is defintly one- if not the- best dayan cube and in the top 10 best cube of 2017.
I started cubing when the zhanchi came out and used it, it was a very nice cube at the time and being considered to be too fast for other cubers. The 2017 shares the same mechanism to a T. The zhanchi would only really pop, on the 2017 this just happens more often even when you're turning pretty carefully. Adding some nostalgia the 2017 also adds the "feature" of center cap pops when you're corner cutting or just doing turning. Speaking of the corner cutting it's not that bad I suppose. The color scheme is really good though. This thing doesn't stay in a cubic shape like it wants to move by itself though. I'll just conclude that you should buy the old zhanchi
I was excited for DaYan's comeback. Their first 3x3 release in forever. With such innovative cubes like the Zhanchi and the GuHong, I thought this must be good. Boy was I ever wrong. I average sub 30, and I tried to speedsolve this, and I got two horrible back to back times: 1:12, and 1:09. The pieces explode out of the cube while solving, and they literally shoot across the room. This is what caused these disgraceful times. The feeling is horrible and bumpy, and it is about as stable as a bag of sand. The torpedoes on the edges break off inside the cube! I have broken pieces lying all around. You can hear them rattling around. This is not an improvement, it is actually worse than the original Zhanchi. Do not waste your money on this 3x3.
I bought this out of curiosity to really see if this cube is as terrible as everyone said in reviews.
Out of the box, the cube felt extremely flimsy, unstable and lose. After about five solves, I got my first pop and me agreeing that it's garbage. But I didn't give on the puzzle though, as I decided to tighten it and lubricate it to see if it will improve the puzzle in turning. Just doing a quarter turn already improved it by having no pops. I also lubricated the springs and over-lubed the puzzle using weight 4 and 5. This was able to improve the turning and make the puzzle less flimsy while performing solves with the puzzles. Unfortunately, the puzzle is still catchy and unpleasant to solve with. It's much better though now than out of the box.
It's certainly not the worst out there but only recommend the puzzle if you are curious or you are a collector. It works and doesn't pop after some work. 3/5 Stars.
I like how Dayan Re-visited the Zhanchi and I hoe they do it with there other cubes. But as for the feeling it feel fast, smooth, buttery and a bit uncontrollable at some times. No pops what so ever. It's my new main and I highly recommend this puzzle to many cubers.
This cube is really good, right out of the box it is fast but controllable, i lubed it with traxxas 50k and that made it buttery smooth, so overall i really recommend this cube to all types of speedcubers and it is better then the first Dayan Zanchi
