Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

So the first fruit cube set also comes with a lemon, I bought both sets and now I have two lemons I guess, oops. I think this set would've been better if it didn't have the lemon and a few dollars cheaper.
The main problem though is the orange and the peach! Compared to all the other fruit cubes which are cute and easy to solve in a minute or less, these two are very tedious and difficult. They're like 3x3 ghost cubes, except some pieces are duplicates (the orange has more duplicate pieces than the peach) and they have some symmetry revolving around 2 opposite corners. Also it's just impossible to do any look-ahead, solving the cross takes a few minutes on it's own. I believe I keep running into a parity case where one of my centers is rotated 90 degrees, and I can't figure out what piece swap or cycle is necessary to fix it. The instructions do tell you one parity case where you need to swap two duplicate edges, but that doesn't really describe which pieces should be swapped and their algorithm still scrambles the top layer and isn't very helpful. And anyways I seem to be getting a different parity case which isn't in the instructions. So I end up spending 20 minutes scrambling it and solving it again, hoping not to encounter parity on the last layer, and it's just very un-fun to solve. A regular ghost cube is a lot more enjoyable for me.
Looks great in a fake fruit bowl on the kitchen counter tho! So if you want it for the novelty, it still gets a recommendation from me. Just don't scramble the orange or the peach!
These puzzles are truly amazing. They turn beautifully and the peach and orange are shockingly challenging solves, especially the orange. I highly recommend these to any one who enjoys obscure 3x3 shape mods or collectors.
