GAN Halo Smart Timer

So good

This is actually my first timer ever and I gotta say, this one really impressed me. I like the fact that it is USB-C rechargeable, that adds a lot of value because you don’t have to have button batteries on hand. The other thing that is nice is that the palm pads are highly responsive and have customizable LED light rings. The device is also quite small and fits easily into any bag which is nice. Finally, I like that in combination with the CubeStation app, GAN i3, and GAN Robot, you can pretty effectively re-create the feeling of being at a competition (though I do wish that when you used the robot to scramble, it would wait until you pick the cube up to start the countdown).

the timer is really really good. the pads feel good, the times are pretty accurate, and it turns out using blootooth you can connect it to cstimer. tho it does have some flaws. the only charging cable i have in the house right now is DC5V and the timer doesnt allow that for the charge. but overall its totally worth every single penny

I love the way this timer feels, the slick look of it, and the colors and customization. If you have any Gan smart cube, this timer is even more useful. Although if you don’t have a Gan smart cube, I recommend the standard version.

I've tried to register an account of CubeStation but it's not working.
And without an account, it becomes a normal timer with BlueTooth feature.
And I can't even change internal clock without App.

Despite the hardware itself is okay, the support software is not working.

I've tried with email and FB. I don't have other social network account hence I can't try login in with the other two.

The timer profile is slightly slimmer than the Stackmat G3 and G4. Stopping the timer with the slimmer profile (if you are used to one of those timers) takes some getting used to but is still good. I do not use a smart cube with this nor do I connect to a smart cube app. The web Bluetooth functionality works great with CS Timer in the web browser. The latency is super low, so my times show up on screen with no noticeable delay. With the Stackmat timers G3/G4 I've had latency issues in the past and was glad to see they are not an issue with this timer. I really like that the timer is rechargeable in only 1.5-2 hours and has a battery life of ~42 hours. If you don't plan to use the Cube Station app you are limited in your lighting selection but you can still choose from a few on the timer.

Compatibility:
I've tested the timer to work with the following setups as of February 2024. If you have a Windows or Apple PC you will likely have no issues but I tested these setups since Linux support varies with some things.

In desktop browsers you will likely need to enable the Web Bluetooth API which is disabled by default for security reasons. It's worth noting that Firefox does not and will likely never support the Web Bluetooth API (this means the timer won't connect to Firefox). I couldn't get the timer to work with Brave either but I didn't try that hard either.

Notes:
- Timer includes USB-C charging (cable only)
- There are protective covers over the rubber feet on the timer that should be removed to stop it from sliding around

Overall I love being able to connect this to my computer with no wires in the way of my solving. If you're looking for a timer and don't care about it being the official WCA timer I highly recommend this one.

Takes a minute to charge and didn't get the Bluetooth to work besides that really good! :)
