Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

Middle hard to turn

I gave it 3 just because the middle is hard to turn otherwise super smooth. I recommend it.

Father of son who is a cube freak!

Son says the SengSo 8x8 works great! A little tough starting, but loosened up after a while & after lubricant added. Don't expect to be able to use it for high speed competitions like a 3x3, as the inner rows & columns get stuck occasionally, just like ALL other 8x8s he's sampled from friends. Other than that, this is a great 8x8 for price & size! VERY HAPPY with the SengSo 8x8 and the SengSo 9x9 he just got. - These work BETTER than other, more expensive 8x8s & 9x9s he's used! Great products, they will pop out on you if you try to force them, but once you get used to it, it doesnt.

Love my 9x9 but the 8x8 is trash

I’ve adjusted tension every way but loose, and lubed every corner, and with every solve it still feels like it’s going to fall apart. I definitely recommend the Yishin Little Magic 8x8 over the Shang Shou any day of the week.

Stable

This is the most stable 8x8 I have purchased. That being said I only have 3 total different 8x8’s including this one. Breaks in a little after a couple of solves and starts to feel good afterwards. Totally worth buying if you are looking for a small nice fitting cube of this size.

Almost Excellent

I do very much so enjoy this cube. Love the curves, love the soft feel of the surface and love the feel of turning the layers.

My only real complaint is the center layer is much tighter than the outer layers. Out of the box one of the three center layers was extremely tight. It has taken many adjustments to get a tension I am content with. But the center layer consistently feels too tight, and loosening it more makes the outer layers too loose.

Despite that, I still find myself picking it up as often as other cubes.
