Product Description

The QiYi M Pro 3x3 V2 is a budget-friendly magnetic 3x3. This puzzle has tension (screw) and compression adjustment, and piece-to-piece magnetization.

This is the Pioneer version, which has a UV coating that can aid with grip. It also gives the puzzle a glossy finish that we think looks really nice!

Our Promise to You

All of our products are guaranteed to be free of defects, or we will replace and reship at no cost to you. Please contact us within 4 weeks (28 days) past the delivery date to report any issues with items you have purchased.

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

The corners on 2x2 puzzles should not be twisted as doing so may snap the piece. Damage caused by corner twisting is not considered to be a defect.

CORE MAGNETS!

This is absolutely the best Cube you could get! It has UV coating and Core-Edge and Core-Corner Magnets!!
You basically get autoalignment for an absolute budget!!

Pretty good cube for the price.

My wife got the flagship version in the mystery order and thought it was pretty nice, so I decided to give the pioneer version a try. I kind of love it, for 16 bucks you get maglev, UV coating that doesn't feel like glossy wax, and core magnets. I added some fz Glide and a very very small amount of Weight 5 on the tracks, then some fz Stealth on the pieces and it turns like a charm. I almost put it on par with my RS3M V5, and only because of what you get for the price.

Qiyi M Pro V2 review.

So, I bought this cube about 1-2 weeks ago. I found out that I can't use my standard lube setup of 6 drops of Candycane lubricant from speedcubeshop.com along with 2 drops on the track with weight 1 lube from thecubicle.com since after I tried, the cube became extremely stiff and I had to turn each layer extremely hard before i could use it and it felt just like a rock while i was turning them. But after i turn each layer its extremely smooth but I hate the fact that its unturnable before hand. When I first got the cube in the mail it was extremely fast and sounded like sandpaper. I added my normal setup and it worked good, after the lube feeling went away when i cleaned the entire cube and added more of my lube, it became like a rock. In summary, the cube feels lovely but after a bit of use with my lube, it sucks and I'm probably going to dispose of it here soon once I feel like its unfixable, as i have been trying to fix it for around 2 days now.

Unacceptable, especially for it's price

Put simply, I don't like this cube, and I don't use it except on the rare occasion that I pick it up for a few solves to see if I still hate it. Actually, I did a few solves on it yesterday. Surprise, I still hate it.

It's the only cube in my collection that I never bring out during a session. I have other cubes that I have problems with, that I don't necessarily like because something about them rubs me the wrong way, but I still bring them out often enough, I still consistently get times near my average with them, and I can still use them through a whole session if I decide to. I really can't stand using the M Pro V2 Pioneer UV, though.

To be fair, there are a couple positive things about this cube: I personally like the look of the colors and UV coating, and the corner cutting is pretty great.

With that out of the way, here's what I take issue with:

1). Even though the cube can be pretty flexible and corner cut really well while still feeling like the pieces fit tightly enough together to be stable, it can be outrageously unstable, with lots of deformation, corner twists and some edge pops. It's not at all like something like the HuDong Light, where corner cutting is great, and it flexes really well when you need it to but otherwise keeps it's shape and stays stable. The HuDong keeps it's stability up until you've loosened it to the point that it'll come apart during solves. The M Pro V2 doesn't really know what stability means. It thinks it does, but instead of being stable yet flexible, it pretends to be blocky but acts like it's overly loose.

At speed, it catches and locks up a ton, thanks primarily to the instability combined with how much it doesn't actually want to turn. Which brings me to...

2). It's slow, and trying to control the instability just makes it even slower and a chore to turn. If you tighten down the center travel or compression in an attempt to gain some stability, you just end up slowing it down, ramping up the friction, and causing it to continue to deform and become unstable as the layers and pieces resist being moved, begrudgingly being forced through the turn.

3). It doesn't respond well to any lubes that I've tried in it, in any combination. The best I've been able to do is get it to feel a little smoother and resist full lockups a little when the pieces snap on each other by dropping a little bit of GAN 2 on the tracks and pieces. It doesn't really speed it up so much as it just helps it not feel so bad to turn.

It's really easy to over-lube, though. I don't know if that's because the friction surfaces are all completely flat or what, but it doesn't take more than a couple drops of lube at most to make this cube feel gummy and sluggish, slowing it down and causing it to flex and deform even more when you end up having to put force into your turns.

Some lubes it just won't tolerate at all. It hates GAN 1. Apparently it will only maybe kind of think about accepting the thinnest of lubes. A drop of Speedy or Lubicle 1 makes it feel gummy and noticeably wet while also somehow increasing the friction feel. DNM-37 is similar. PiLube Purple, which I really like to use in combination with a single drop thinner lube in all of my other cubes, which usually speeds things up and makes the cubes feel smooth to the point of almost being slippery despite how thick it is, just absolutely gunks up the M Pro V2.

Use a weight 3 or thicker lube if you really feel like spending the rest of your afternoon making sure you've cleaned absolutely all of it out, or if you're trying to beef up your finger muscles. I guarantee you that every other cube in your collection will feel like the lightest, most easy to turn cube you've ever used after using a thick lube in the M Pro V2.

4). Clockwise and anti-clockwise turns feel consistently different across every face/layer. Clockwise turns turns are "normal", relative to how this cube feels and performs overall. You do your turn, and within some small range, the layers will automatically align. Ant-clockwise turns, on the other hand, seem to want to resist going into alignment, requiring you to either turn harder or follow through more on your turns.

The biggest consequence of this inconsistency is, well, inconsistency. It makes the cube feel very unbalanced, and I think leads to a lot more catching and lockups when you don't consciously make the effort to do anti-clockwise turns harder than you would with clockwise turns.

I can't say I know exactly what causes this, but I do know that I've had at least a few other people confirm that their M Pro V2s behave the same way.

5). The center caps go completely over the outside of the center pieces, and then extend at least 1/4 inch downward toward the core. This is my pettiest gripe, but removing the caps is annoying. You can't really do it by hand. You need a tool to stick down in there and pry it off, at which point it may shoot across the room.

I'm out of cha...

Just not worth it

I main this cube for 1-3 months and ive noticed good but mostly bad things, it has a good corner cutting, good uv coating, decent adjustment system, but the hole is way deeper, the cube has almost no reverse corner cutting, the magnets are super weak, u cant even feel them while moving or solving the cube, and the auto alignment doesn't help at all. It has a design that doesn't have something to keep the lube in it, i lube this cube to 1-3 days just for it to feel like the lube is not in it, to compare it, i have the rs skewb maglev which i lubed 1 month ago and i can still feel the lube and same feeling in it even after a month. Buy this if ur a beginner or intermediate but i still dont recommend it.
